Talk: Marine mammals in Malaysia – *rescheduled*

Time: 8 – 9pm
Venue: Auditorium, MNS HQ, KL

Find out about the 11 confirmed species of marine mammals known to occur in the waters of Peninsular Malaysia. Discover the threats affecting marine mammal populations globally and locally. Learn how you can assist with filling in the ‘black hole’ of no information about marine mammals in the places they occur.

Join Louisa Ponnampalam, who studied marine science in Hawaii and did her PhD with the University of London, focusing on the ecology and conservation of spinner dolphins and other small dolphins in the Sultanate of Oman, for this interesting talk by the Selangor Branch.

Now part of the team at University Malaya’s Institute of Ocean and Earth Sciences, Louisa hopes to set up a national facility for research of marine mammals in Peninsular Malaysia and to create awareness among Malaysians about these magnificent creatures.
