About a dozen members attended a talk and slide show by underwater photographers Mr N.K. Tong and Mr S.T. Chee (April 23, 2003). The original plan was to have the slide show in the MNS parking lot. Members were advised to bring mosquito repellant, but this was unnecessary because constant drizzle forced the talk indoors.
The marine life was both colourful as well as inspiring, especially the close-up photographs of creatures as small as a shrimp. After the talk, Tong and Chee generously donated their slides to MNS. RM2 was collected from each member for the Marine Group fund, of which half was donated to the MNS-Nanyang Foundation for the Kidney Foundation for a new kidney dialysis centre.
