The MNS Marine Group’s EcoDive Programme is about learning how to dive responsibly. Together with programme partner PADI go ECO operator Tioman Dive Centre, MNS members undergo the Open Water PADI Dive Course and the Project AWARE Coral Reef Conservation Course. The latter teaches divers about the vital role of coral reefs in the marine environment. It also familiarises members with the current state of the world’s coral reefs and how they can help.
This time, the EcoDive programme allowed students to learn the academic portion of the dive course in Kuala Lumpur, and then complete the water sessions in Tioman. In May 2006, two MNS members – Kevin Ong and Alby Loh – became the programme’s most recent graduates.
